A Puppy for Slackers

puppyPuppy has always been an impressive piece of work. At first it was impressive just because of the small size, then more and more original tools were added. Later on with the Woof build system, versions of Puppy compatible with popular distributions became possible. The Ubuntu Puppys have received high marks. Well, today Mick Amadio announced a new puppy built with packages from Slackware.

Introducing Linvo GNU/Linux

linvoA new distribution flew onto my radar today and I thought it might be interesting to take a quick look. Linvo is a Bulgarian hailed distribution based on Slackware featuring the GNOME 2.32 desktop. Yesterday, developers released Linvo 2010.12.6.

slackwareAmong all the posts announcing the release of Ubuntu 11.04 was the few that acknowledged the release of Slackware 13.37. Slackware continues to boast a loyal following because of its rock hard stability and security. It was once known as not the best choice for beginners, but has become quite easy and carefree over the years. Perhaps Slackware's most notable characteristic is its practice of providing a turn-key system that doesn't alter the original developers' work.
